Our Story

The Deeper Bible Podcast started in 2021 as a pressure-release valve for weekend teachings at The Bay Church. We were studying the book of Genesis, and there was just no way to do justice to that sophisticated story in 30-minute sermons. So, we created a companion podcast to go “deeper” in whatever we were learning on weekends. From there, The Deeper Bible Podcast evolved into a show that ranges through topics of biblical, theological, and cultural interest. Christians are a truth-seeking people, so we’re curious souls who want to be fellow travelers with other curious souls. Here’s our team at the moment, and we’d love to have you join us someday.

The Team

  • Ryan John Gregg

    Founder & Host

    Ryan John Gregg is a theologian and pastor at The Bay Church in California. Husband to Sarah, daddy to Eden, and a die-hard Golden State Warriors fan, he has a BA in biblical literature from Northwest University, an MA in philosophy of religion from Harvard Divinity School, and a PhD in the study of religion from Harvard’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. He is the host and founder of The Deeper Bible Podcast, and loves working with an amazing team of friends.   • Destiny Kennedy

    Director & Co-Host

    Destiny is a Bay Area native, foodie, pastor, wife to Nathan and a proud mom of three. As director and co-host of The Deeper Bible Podcast, she holds a BA in Ministry and an MA in Bible and Theology from Northwest University. Destiny’s thirteen years in ministry to the local church have illuminated her deepest passion: helping truth-seekers watch the scriptures burst with living color, strengthening their grasp of its story, internalizing its wisdom and celebrating God’s ability to bring life, beauty and meaning to the most profound and mundane parts of our lives.

  • Lyndsie Smith

    Design Lead & Co-Host

    Lyndsie is also a Bay Area native, design-guru, business owner, creative, mom, wife, photographer extraordinaire, and worship leader in the local church. As co-host and design lead of The Deeper Bible Podcast, Lyndsie brings 20 years of ministry experience and creative expertise. Lyndsie’s passion lives at the intersection of art and faith, leading projects that awaken curious and creative minds to the beauty of scripture and drawing them into dialogue about the wisdom we find in it.

  • Staphon Arnold

    Social Media and Design

    Staphon is a drawing, sculpting and 3D printing enthusiast, gamer, tech guru, husband and dad of two from Martinez, California. In addition to his work alongside some of Pixar Animation Studio’s greatest minds, Staphon brings over 20 years of visual storytelling, art, graphic design and ministry production experience to The Deeper Bible Podcast. Staphon’s passion is using creativity and mixed media to draw people into meaningful conversations about the power of God’s love and wisdom. He believes that his love for the creative arts is a gift from God and allows him to use his imagination to co-create beautiful things.

  • Cody Monser

    Production Lead

    Cody is a music production and creative arts enthusiast, gamer and deep thinker who hails from the beautiful Discovery Bay, California. As the production lead and vodcast coordinator for The Deeper Bible Podcast, Cody brings 10 years of audio-visual engineering expertise. Having led many of his own multi-media projects, Cody’s passion is to see The Deeper Bible Podcast deepen the faith and faithfulness of followers of Jesus everywhere.
